Getting closer.. departing California

So the time's ticking down, getting closer and closer to departure date! I leave sunny California early Wednesday morning with a short stop in Portland then heading up to Seattle to finalize packing and prepping for departure.

I got my shots yesterday, and picked up pills today. I picked up a metric ton of anti malarial pills (120), and also a Typhoid vaccine and antibiotics just in case. Started the 4 pill, 8 day Typhoid series tonight (ugh) and currently nauseous as I type this. Oh so much fun. Developing a mild allergy to water in the last year isn't fun. 

Still tackling a packing list, working with getting light weight clothes and trying to keep the gadgets minimal. It's somewhat hopeless, but am trying. :) 

Updates on the Flooding in Bangkok shows it's still bad, but I am sure I'll figure something eles out if needed. It looks like Intrepid seems to be working around with flying into Chiang Mai instead of BK for the trips through the 9th, my trip hasn't been listed yet as altered, but it is looking likely. Should be doable, just a pain. Hopefully my trip insurance will cover if anything goes drastically wrong. 

These last few weeks have been crazy busy, but fun and filled with friends and good food. Thanks to everyone who has put me up and fed me, I'll miss you all but I am getting SOOOO excited! It's gonna be a grand adventure.

Getting ready, and purchasing toys

Well I officially have less than a month before I fly out now! 

I have been working on learning more about the countries I am going to visit and trying to figure out what to pack for hot humid weather. 

Wheee, fun, I am so gonna die of heat stroke! 

Yesterday I went and bought my new toys (Gateway netbook and a Sony e-reader) so I can survive if I settle down anywhere for any length of time. So far they have both been fun to play with, still need to set settings and transfer files and such. 

This week I am mostly hanging out in the South Bay, then next week will be back up in Sonoma County getting ready to go. I am guessing I'll head up to Portland/Seattle around the 2-5th of November. :) Let me know if you want to see me before I head out!

Oh, I am sooo excited!

At the request of friends, I'll also be cross posting to this blog while I am traveling (when possible). Here's hoping it goes off easily?

Right now I am wandering about California, hanging out with friends and gathering the last bits and bobbles I will need for Asia. Still working on shoes, hmmm..

At the begining of next month I'll be heading of North, with a brief stop in Portland to see peeps, I'll continue on to Seattle for the time remaining till liftoff. My flight leaves for Bangkok on the 17th, depositing me 20 numbing hrs later on the 18th. I'll have a day to get acclimatized (somewhat) then the tour starts the 19th. With the current flooding, I am not 100 percent sure how the tour might have to change, but I am sure it will be amazing no matter where we go! Everyone keep good thoughts that the flooding goes down and spares Bangkok. (for reasons OTHER than me)
